The Rotary Pier at Kalamalka Beach is getting a facelift! Due to extreme weathering and unprecedented wave action, the wood piles supporting the Rotary Pier at Kalamalka Beach have started to fail and the structure needs to be replaced. The new pier will have steel piles and bracing, pressure treated timber stringers and composite decking – making the structure more robust in extreme weather conditions.
Burton Marine Pile Driving Inc. will be mobilizing on Kalamalka Beach on Monday, November 18, 2024, with demolition of the Rotary Pier beginning on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Demolition of the structure is expected to take three (3) weeks, and the new pier is expected to be installed by the end of January, depending on the weather.
The beach will remain open during construction. For the safety of the crew and visitors to the beach, the construction zone will be fenced off. Please stay clear of the construction zone.
