- Project Scope: Install sanitary sewer infrastructure from Selkirk Drive to Wiseby Drive, including service connections from the mains to property lines. It also includes widening Aberdeen Road to create safer paved shoulders for pedestrians and cyclists. The project will take 2 years to complete.
- Project Timeline: May 2025-October 2026
Prime Contractor: Chapman Industries (Chapman) - 250-549-2907 (office) or 250-550-6563 (Site Supervisor).
Project Update: June 16, 2025
Current Works
Sanitary sewer works associated with the Aberdeen Sanitary Sewer Project are currently underway on Selkirk Drive.
Road Closures
Due to the depth of the excavation and safety concerns for local traffic and pedestrians, Selkirk Drive will be closed at Aberdeen Road starting June 16, from 7:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday to Friday, and potentially during some weekend hours. This closer will affect all residential traffic, including staff and visitors of Regional District of the North Okanagan (RDNO). A bypass route has been established between Selkirk Drive and Inverness Drive, utilizing a paved pathway. Flaggers are on site to direct traffic.
Detour Information
- Passenger vehicles and light trucks will be detoured via the paved path between Inverness Drive and Selkirk Drive. Traffic on the pathway will be controlled by on site traffic control personnel.
- Inverness Drive can be accessed from, or provide access to, Sarsons Road and surrounding areas, including Aberdeen Road and Highway 6.
- Heavy duty trucks, vehicles towing trailers, buses, and emergency services will be granted access through the construction zone. Please contact Chapman Industries (contact number below) in advance to coordinate access.
The intersection of Selkirk Drive and Aberdeen Road will be reopened daily, from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am.

Future Works
July 1, 2025: Aberdeen Road main thoroughfare.
Road Closure
Once the works start on Aberdeen Road proper, there will be a full closure to all traffic except for emergency services and the residents who live within the closure. The total road closure is partly due to WCB regulations as traffic in active construction zones is discouraged because of the inherent risk to crews, flagging personnel and the general public. Additionally, the depth of the excavation and the location of the sewer in the center of the road makes preserving a path wide enough for vehicles challenging. Closing the road will be less frustrating to residents than unknown lengthy delays.
Detour Information
- All passenger and commercial vehicles will be required to detour via Kalamalka Road or through routes around/over Middleton Mountain.
- Residents living within the Closure and Emergency Vehicles will be permitted access

- 3-way stop signs will be installed on Kalamalka Road at the intersections of McClounie Drive and Kidston Road in July. This will give drivers a full two months to get used to the new signs prior to the resumption of school in the fall.
- A third raised crosswalk will be installed on Kalamalka Road at the eastern parking lot exit of Coldstream Elementary School, where there is already a painted crosswalk. The works will be completed summer 2025.

- Project Scope: To removed the log house from Kalavista Park
- Project Timeline: Unknown
Project Update: June 16, 2025
Current Works
Abatement of the hazardous materials from the exterior of the building is complete and the majority of the structure has been removed. Demolition of the remaining structure will be completed once the necessary archaeology permits are obtained from the Province; Coldstream has been given no information on when the permit will be approved.
Future Works
Following abatement and removal of the log house, Council will provide guidance to Administration on reimagining the park. Habitat improvements for the turtles, such as the nesting grounds, will be considered as part of the landscape planning, following the demolition.
BAckground
Removal of the Log House will provide Coldstream with an opportunity to reimagine the use of this space and add valuable greenspace to the District for public enjoyment. Previous flooding events have intensified structural building issues including but not limited to failing foundation and mold, making the Log House unsuitable for private or public use and the roof is at end of life. The Log House was built in 1951 and purchased by the Regional District of North Okanagan in 2011 and rezoned as parkland. The District acquired the property in 2014. The Log House is not registered as a Heritage/Historical Site.

- Project Scope: To install solar panels on the Coldstream Community Hall to offset annual power consumption
- Project Timeline: September-October 2025
- Prime Contractor: Roost Solar
Background
A solar project can potentially recover approximately 85% of electrical costs which could save the District (and its partner Maven Lane) upwards of $6000/year. The orientation of the building allows maximize energy production.
From March-September annually, the building will be producing more energy than it is consuming and thus the facility will be building "Net Metering Credits" with the electrical utility. Funding for this project is from a combination of the Local Government Climate Action Plan fund and through the BC Hydro Self-generating rebate program.
